Raising A Baby Is Harder Than Interior Design!
Posted by Babies - 08/03/10 at 05:03 pmThis article isn’t meant to put you off having a baby - not by a longshot! It’s about some hard lessons mothers-to-be have learned about babies.
Babies aren’t like us. To be blunt, they have no sense of style or decorum, nor do they respect the fact that while they were happily sleeping and being provided nourishment from your own body, you were out there trying your best to prepare for their arrival.
While your baby was still a twinkle in your eye, you and your husband were thinking of nothing except its well-being. You were researching all the best baby gear and went out and bought an expensive convertible crib natural as chiropractic designed and built as there was on the market. Cost was no object: your baby deserved only the best!
The fact that you were almost always nauseous, thanks entirely to that little being inhabiting your body didn’t stop you from going out and looking for a bedding collection that your little darling would love as much as you did. There must have been hundreds of styles to choose from, but you persevered in spite of the fact that your baby was already making life miserable for you.
Finally, you found some designer crib bedding that was perfect. You took it home, lovingly made up the baby’s crib and sat back and felt a warm flood of joy over the impending arrival of a new baby in your life.
That crib with all its designer bedding continued to inspire you and help you get through the long months before baby’s arrival. Somehow, they made it a little easier to put up with all the aches and pains associated with your pregnancy. In your mind, you saw its fat, grinning face smiling up at you from its gorgeous designer bed and felt that all the hassles were going to be worth it.
Then the baby was born and you were faced with the awful truth - babies have no respect or appreciation! You and your husband had given it the most expensive bedding on the market and all the baby did in return was pee and vomit all over it! Not only that, instead of falling quickly to sleep in its ergonomically designed crib, it woke up at the most inconvenient times and ruined your good night’s sleep? What sort of little monster was it?
Yes, life was much better when you could dream about what you naively thought motherhood would be like. When cold reality in the form of your new baby hit you in the face, sometimes you felt like a sucker. Why did you waste all that money on those designer goods when your baby didn’t even care? In your heart, though, you do believe it was all worth it. Next time, though, you’re going to buy the baby’s bedding at the discount store!
